Sport Karate League Kata
Uniform: All competitors must wear a white karate uniform. Competitors will wear red belt for Aka or blue belt for Ao. Competitors should have their own belts, however the tournament will have some belts available for sale.
Performance: A random pairing of competitors will perform next to one another.
Kata choice is left up to the competitors and their coaches in black belt divisions, however in under Black Belt divisions refer to USANKF kata restrictions for lower belt categories.
Sport Karate League Kumite Rules
Duration: Duration of the kumite bout shall be one and a half minutes for ages 11 and under, two minutes for ages 12 and over. In adult divisions the kumite bout shall be: three minutes for men, but four minutes in the bouts for medals; and two minutes for women, but three minutes in the bouts for medals. Time keeping shall be by “stop time” in all advance divisions. In beginner, novice and intermediate divisions “running time” be used.
Contact: Absolutely no head contact with hand techniques in all under 14 years old divisions, light none injurious contact with the feet will be permitted with the discretion of center referee. Advance 14 years and older light none injurious contact with the hands and feet will be permitted with the discretion of center referee. Its is not necessary to make contact to score.
Kumite Uniform & Equipment: All competitors must wear a white uniform and must have the following:
A mouth guard, groin protectors (males only), WKF style red and blue sparring gloves and foot protectors, red and blue belts, USANKF/WKF approved helmets and shin guards are OPTIONAL FOR ALL.
Referee: Referees will not referee a competitor who is from the official’s dojo or karate organization.

*The tournament directors reserve the right to change or combine divisions if there are less than five competitors per division or for fairness, also the directors will split divisions into light and heavy if beamed necessary.
